When Kelly was growing up in Burleson, TX singing wasn't Kelly's choice career, she actually wanted to be a marine biologist. Kelly then realized after that, that her true passion was singing (thank god for us)

Kelly really began to be interested in singing in 7th grade after her junior high choral director heard her singing in the school hallway and encouraged her to sign up for the school choir, Than after that, she joined the band.
Kelly joined a lot of choral activities throughout high school, starring in musicals ("Brigadoon"), performing overseas, and earning top honors as a member of the Texas All-State Choir.

When Kelly moved to LA, she landed a job as an extra on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Kelly hated LA, and she really hated it more when her apartment burned down, that's when her best friend Jessica told her to go and try for American Idol, and we all know how that turned out.

When it was Kelly's turn to audition for American Idol, everyone before her had gotten rejected, so Kelly thought `` well it's been fun'' But when she got in there and sang everyone knew she was going to Hollywood.

Belting out an energized rendition of Aretha Franklin's "Respect," she captured the hearts (and votes) of people from all over the United States and advanced to the top 10 finals.

Week after week Kelly graced us with her voice, and when it came down to her and Justin, Kelly proved that she was the American Idol.
